Thailand Travel Advice 2022: Things to know before traveling to Thailand

Thailand was one of the first Southeast Asian countries to open to tourism when the Covid-19 epidemic was gradually brought under control. In particular, Thailand is not only open to tourism but also exempts quarantine for travelers from 64 countries around the world. This decision of Thailand brings more hope for travel enthusiasts. However, passengers to Thailand still need to comply with epidemic prevention measures. The following article will answer about public health orders in Thailand and suggest destinations and activities in Thailand.

1. Entry requirements
From 1 June 2022, Thailand has simplified the entry rules for all tourists. The requirements now correspond to 2 group of touristes: vaccinated and unvaccinated/ not fully-vaccinated.

For unvaccinated/not fully - vaccinated travellers, they are required to prepare for the following documents:
- A valid passport, or a Border Pass for arrivals via border checkpoints.
- A Thailand Pass.
- An insurance policy with coverage no less than US$10,000. Thais and foreign expatriates under Thailand’s national healthcare coverage are exempt from this requirement.

For vaccinated travellers, except for the above documents, they have to show the Certificate of COVID-19 Vaccination in order to visit Thailand:
- Travellers 18 years old and older: fully vaccinated with an approved vaccine at least 14 days.
- Travellers unaccompanied from 5-17 years old must have at least 1 approved vaccine dose. If traveling with parents, they are exempted from this requirement.
- Travellers with a history of COVID-19 infection who have recovered by medical treatment, and travellers who have received at least one dose of an approved vaccine post-infection must have a certificate of COVID-19 recovery.

- Upon arrival, all travellers must go through entry screening such as body temperature checks, and present the required documents to the immigration/health control officer.
- Vaccinated travellers will be allowed to freely discover Thailand. However, those arriving by land with a Border Pass will only be allowed to stay for no more than three days in the designated areas.
- Unvaccinated/ not fully-vaccinated one will have to show a negative result from an RT-PCR test or professional ATK (NOT self-ATK) within 72 hours and follow the instructions and guidelines of the Health Control officer at the point of arrival.
