Vietnam Summary
Sporting a rich history and varied landscape, Vietnam is a country that offers something for anyone. Experience the hustle and bustle of Vietnamese big-city living in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, or settle down for a more relaxed and informative stay in cultural highlights like the ancient towns of Hue and Hoi An. For beach bums, there are great spots all along the coast, but especially in the south, with Nha Trang, Mui Ne and Phu Quoc hosting some truly impressive beaches.
Vietnam is also a country covered in natural beauty from top to bottom. Among the Northern Mountains you can ride the famous Ha Giang loop among the meandering valleys and soaring peaks, trek among the rice paddies in Sa Pa, relax at Ba Be Lake, and take in the awe-inspiring Ban Gioc waterfall. To the east, by the coast, lies famous Ha Long Bay, with its towering rock formations seemingly bursting forth from the sea. Further south is Phong Nha, home to the largest cave in the world, as well as several smaller, but no less impressive, caves. Down in the central highlands you have the charming town of Da Lat, a great place to explore the forest-covered valleys of the Central Highlands by motorbike.
The country is also brimming with ethnic diversity, and there are many opportunities to experience the authentic Vietnamese way of life, whether it’s in a remote minority village in the northern mountains or among the floating markets of the Mekong Delta.
All in all, Vietnam is a country with a wide range of activities and destinations that suit every type of traveller, from cities to small villages and from vast mountains and valleys to spectacular beaches.
